Sweet Dixie Stitched Christmas

Good Morning Crafters

Today we are sharing Pandy's Christmas creations using Sweet Dixie Clear Christmas Stamps.

These can be found in our Christmas Shop on our Personal Impressions Website.

Here is what Pandy has commented about the look she was aiming for
"I love the rustic, stitched look of this set and I wanted to keep the simple block look, and make my projects have the look of fabric patchwork.  I came up with this way to produce a sheet of images and then cut them up to use in your projects.  You can cut strips, blocks – or squares and use them the same way as you would a fabric patch – but on your cards!"

Thanks Pandy! Now onto her creations!

 Materials used
Sweet Dixie stamp set – Stitched Christmas
Memento ink pad – Tuxedo Black
Tim Holtz design ruler
A4 quality white card
Waterproof / alcohol ink proof black marker

Step 1

Use the ruler to measure and mark 2” squares over the whole sheet of card.  The design ruler is great because you can use both sides of it to make pencil marks and it helps keep the grid squarer.

Step 2

Use a black fine liner to draw tiny dotted / dashed lines both sides of your pencil lines.  You are going to cut between these dots so keep the gap fairly equal.  They are meant to look like tiny hand stitches so they have to be even.

 Step 3

Stamp an image in each of the square centres.  The beauty of the clear stamps is that you can see exactly where to place the stamp image.  Colour in each image.

Step 4

I used alcohol inks and no shading to make them look like felt patches – and if you stick to a limited colour palate of just 1 red, 1 green, 1 gold / yellow – adding in a pink for Santa’s face – brown for the tree stem – you will get a coordinated set of images no matter how you cut and use the images.

I used 2 picture strips on an A5 size card and found a ‘fabric pattern’ looking paper to use as the background.  The strips are flat – with one tree in the top left layered up.  The greeting is matted and raised in the middle.
The small card is a 4” square card blank with one picture square matted and raised over a backing paper.   Just for once I have left the cards totally plain with no gems and bling – that doesn’t happen very often!

I used a couple of the picture squares to make matching gift tags.

Finished picture 3

For the tall simple card I cut out the shapes and raised them on the card.  The greeting is stamped directly onto the card.

What a fabulous idea, will definitely be trying this out for myself.

Thank you for visiting Today!
